There’s a ton of Unnecessary Hatred being directed towards Bitcoin from the Alt Community

Let me start by saying, Bitcoin is not what everyone hoped it would be. I understand, but there’s a level of appreciation I have for Bitcoin and I wish others would recognize the value Satoshi Nakamoto’s creation has brought to the world.

Instead, everyone is busy hating on r/bitcoin and Bitcoin hodlers. Cheering when market share for Bitcoin crashes.

Let me tell you something, if Bitcoin crashes too hard too fast, the whole experiment will get set back a couple years. Right now, Bitcoin is the gateway to all other altcoins. The media covers the bull runs and the falls of Bitcoin. If Bitcoin goes on another tear for 4 months, where do you think 70% of that money is going to end up in the end? In alts that actually function, that’s where. If Bitcoin were to just crash all at once, the msm would write another obituary about the obvious Bitcoin bubble, and then it would likely take another couple years to get the crypto space back in the eyes of the public.

Hating on Bitcoin is like hating on the Ford Model-T. Why cant people appreciate the spark it provided for the transportation industry? Recognize that without Bitcoin, one of the most peaceful and impactful revolutions in history wouldnt be possible. Sure the Ford Model-T is a junker that will never be able to keep up, but you dont really hear people shitting on it, or shitting on anyone that owns one. In fact, there’s a level of novelty to even seeing one. That’s why I love Bitcoin.

Another thing, the value of a coin does not indicate its success as a currency. Im sure you all know that, but w/e, Im saying it again. It seems only a small portion of the Bitcoin community is pushing for adoption by retailers and employers. But at least Bitcoin has some people hoping for this. Where are all the altcoin hodlers shilling their coin to retailers? Nowhere. Just shilling to other investors.

If we really truly want crypto to succeed, merchants need to accept it as payment. Employees need to receive it as payment. People need to trade it for goods and services. Bitcoin was achieving this, until it became a victim of its own success and the network clogged up.

As much as I love things like RaiBlocks, IOTA, Walton, Monero, Req, etc... I wish more people were making an effort to have these currencies accepted as payment for a good or service. There is a strong argument to be made for spending your crypto and replenishing it, and the only subs I hear that even talk about this anymore are the two most cancerous subs r/bitcoin and r/btc.

The value/price will follow adoption. But if the price goes up too fast before merchants start accepting a coin... guess what happens? It will fucking crash.

Andreas Antonopoulos has been putting his heart and soul in to this space for five years and it was working. There was a legitimate global economy that was exchanging goods and services for crypto. Id like to keep pushing every crypto supporter to help their respective crypto do the same.

If any single crypto can beat out fiat currency, the world wins. Even the ppl who never bought crypto until after it was mass adopted will benefit from a borderless currency that isnt strapped to, or controlled by, a single sovereign entity
